We have a Cisco VPN 3000 concentrator in our company Network. I would like to assign a static IP to the clients that connect to it because with dynamically assigned IPs we are having problems with a specific application that has an IP database to give access to registered IPs. Is there a way on the 3000 concentrator to assignes the same IP address to a client every time they connect to the VPN? if so is there a liminted number of users or can I do it for as many users as the concentrator can handle?

Thanks

It depends. What kind of authentication are you running on the VPN3000? Are you doing external authentication or internal authentication?

If you are doing extended authentication for your remote VPN connections, then you can assign the same IP address to them every time they connect by doing the following:

1. Go to Configuration | System | Address Management | Assignment and enable "Use address from authentication server"

2. Go to Configuration | User Management | Users and select the users you want to assign a specific IP address to then click on "modify"

3. Once you are inside the "Configuration | User Management | Users | Modify" screen, under Identity tab, fill out the
"IP address" and the "Subnet Mask" parameters with the corresponding values.

Note: Make sure that you exclude the IP address that you will be statically assigning from the address pool or DHCP server .
