Scheduling a DTS package in MSDE?
Hi,
Can a server that has only MSDE be scheduled to run DTS? If i use the dtsrun.exe what is the syntax to do scheduling?
i am not sure how i can schedule it in the server.
or can i actually use windows scheduing to run the .dts file? would that work?
any suggestions will be appreciated,
Thanks

you mean i can do the scheduling by writing to a bat file and that is where i use windows scheduler to run?
but is this a reliable way to schedule a job? would it be better if i used another 3rd party tool to schedule this? (like MSDE manager, so we dont have to buy the full sql server version) that way i can view logs and debug, etcetc

no, as there is not sql server agent, which only comes with the full sql server installation.
yes, you can schedule it with windows scheduler, you simply need to create the dtsrun command line (into a batch file that you schedule)
do you need help to build the command line? check dtsrungui.exe
