my ISP is a bigname company which has nothing to do with my Domain but my internet doesnt work either
i only host my own mail.  my mx record points to my server.

You should contact your ISP reguarding you internet not working.

If you do not renew your domain, you will loose the name and the records pointing to your web/ mail servers will go away.

so do u think the internet not working is a seperate issue??  thats what im trying to figure out?

once the domain is renewed will the records pointing have to be resetup?

intenet not working is a seperate issue

I don't know, the longer you leave it before renewing the more likley you will have to resetup the records.
