WSUS Server

I am trying to install a WSUS Server onto a windows 2000 box, but the only problem is that it already has an instance of MSDE 2000 installed onto the server, because there is veritas backup exec on there. I have successfully created a second instance and the service is running but I can't get the WSUS setup file to run because it keeps stating there

is no database server could be detected.

Has anyone come across this before...

cheers in advance
