Accessing Broadband using Wireless Network Card

My Desktop is connected via a DSL Modem. I don't have a router. I want my friend to be able to use her wireless-enabled laptop when she comes round. Can I simply install a wireless network PCI card in my desktop and connect the two that way? And how would I set it up?

Thanks.

yes you can,on the wireless card you've installed on you PC
Go to the properties page of the wireless network by right-click on Wireless Network Connection and select Properties.
Go to the Wireless Network tab, then add a new network by clicking on the Add button.
Fill in the details - SSID, WEP key(this is a security code make sure you write it down, make it a 10digit number) and check the last box to indicate this is an ad-hoc network.

Then on your connection(still on your PC) right click you internet connection and go to properties, then go into advanced tab and tick the Internet Connection Sharing box.

then when your friend comes in, they can right click there wireless connection and choose view available network and they will see on it will be called whatever you put in the SSID. They then simply choose to connect to that signal when they do this it will ask you for a Code this is the WEP code you entered earlier.

Hope this helps
