does anybody have a headsup on how to change the default caledar view from day to month w/in OWA?

Without third party tools you can't. The rule with OWA is what you see is what you get. If you cannot see how something is done, then it probably cannot be done.

Take a look at the tools from Message Ware - they might have something that can change it.
