Tomcat 5.5 Virtual Hosts

I have installed Tomcat and set up a web app.  It works fine with the following address.

http://www.mydomain.com/mydomain/index.jsp

But I can't get it to work with just the www.mydomain.com.

I have been editing my server.xml with various host definitions but can't get one that works.

Almost every suggestion I have seen has parts I don't understand.  Help.

I am triing to use the latest version of Tomcat which is 5.5.  Apache is bundled with the version.  The links you provided are for older versions of Apache.
