You can use the PatternCount() function to count how many times a certain value appears in a text string.

PatternCount("dog cat bear dog cow cat horse cat " ; "cat" )
will return 3, because the letters cat appear three times in this string.

To count both cat and dog,  simply count each separately and add them together.

If you want to count how many times a word appears in a set of multiple records, create a calculated field to count the words in one record, then use the sum() function to add them up.

If you just want to know how many records have this value in them, just use count() instead of sum().
