How do you find if you can make sysb to DVD on p570 and make mksysb?
I am only seeing under lsdev:

rmt0           Defined   1Z-08-00-0,0 LVD SCSI Tape Drive
rmt1           Defined   1j-09-00-3,0 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive
rmt2           Available 0T-08-00-3,0 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive

But, the CD/DVD drive is there.

Hi,

You need to verify if you have a CD burner, not a tape drive.

From the shell prompt:
lsdev -C -c cdrom

Once you have found your CD/DVD drive:
/usr/sbin/mkcd -U -d /dev/cd0 -P -V rootvg

replace /dev/cd0 with the drive to use

mkdvd wasn't successful because the DVD-RAM media size.

I have the dirs below and think it will require 2 or 3 of 8GB media to put all of the sysb dirs.

root@prd2:/mkcd>
$ ls -al
total 32
drwxr-xr-x   5 root     d_prod          256 Jun 29 16:29 .
drwxr-xr-x  32 root     system         4096 Jun 29 15:57 ..
drwxr-sr-x   4 sys      sys             512 Jun 29 16:15 cd_fs
drwxr-sr-x   3 sys      sys             512 Jun 29 16:29 cd_images
drwxr-sr-x   3 sys      sys             512 Jun 29 15:57 mksysb_image

What is the prompt command to put the dirs onto multiple DVD-RAM media?
