office 2003 hangs randomly while working remotely.

Hi,

I just purchased a new IBM X60 Laptop and installed outlook 2003 on that one.I operate from two different offices in the US and our exchange server is in Mexico which has a latency of about 75 ms. I remotely access my mailbox using Nortel VPN Client 5.01. I face a strange problem where the machine hangs randomly when I am working in outlook 2003 after logging on the VPN connection.Please note this only takes place when I am working remotely .The outlook works fine in the office.Office 2003 has the latest service packs and patches .I tried reconfiguring the profile as well but that did not work.Any suggestions.

Hi barry_rodricks,

First step is to turn logging on in Outlook so you can collect information about what's actually happening.  Click Tools->Options->Other->Advanced Options.  Check the "Enable logging (troubleshooting)" checkbox.  This will create a log file that may help figure the problem out.  Here's a link to a page with details about logging: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011742661033.aspx
