Are you trying to create a search using the Frontpage component?  Or are you trying to do something else?  Please provide more details.

I inserted the web search component in the html file.  When I put the html file on the server and searched for something, nothing happens.  Please advise.

Did you publish the website?  Do you have FPSE enabled?  Does your server support FP search?

No, I don't have FPSE enabled.  I am running off a Linux Server.

You have to have FPSE enabled and you have to publish to use the FP search component.

How do I enable FPSE?

Does this work from a Liniux Server?

It should work on a Linux server but FPSE are no longer being supported by Microsoft actually.  I recommend a Windows server to take full advantage of the FPSE components

To enable FPSE, they need to be installed. Contact your hosting company or server admin.
