maragent (MAsteR agent) is part of EMC Control Centre. It sits on the AIX host and pushes host details back to ECC - such as host name, IP address, FC WWN, OS, mounted file systems and so on. It's also used when you assign storage to the host from Control Centre.

You can stop the master agent on the host (try maragent -shutdown  or /exec/eccmad stop). You can shut down any sub agents from EMC Control Centre itself (which you should do before you shut down the master agent)

You may need to set this environment variable for the shutdown to work: ECC_HOME=%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\exec
