Calling Linked database query in the stored procedue oracle 9i, its gives error

hi

I'm calling the following query in the sql * plus its gives the perfect result set.

Query
-------

Select EmpName as "Employee Name", Age,Sex,DOB as "Date of Birth" From SMS_EmployeeDemo@REMOTEDB.ORACLE.BLAZE1;


but the same query called in the stored procedure gives the following error.

CREATE OR REPLACE  PACKAGE BODY "SYSTEM"."GET_EMPLOYEE"        
    AS
PROCEDURE GetEmployees (cur_Employees OUT T_CURSOR)
IS
BEGIN
 
 OPEN cur_Employees For Select EmpName as "Employee Name", Age,
    Sex,DOB as "Date of Birth"
    From SMS_EmployeeDemo@REMOTEDB.ORACLE.BLAZE1;
   
END GetEmployees;
END GET_EMPLOYEE;

ORA-02041:Client database did not begin a transaction
ORA-06512:at"SYSTEM.GET_EMPLOYEE"
