Cannot re-install Microsoft Project 2003

Hi!
Although I did refer to a previous thread in this forum regarding MS project installation issue where it reports back that another instance of Project 2003 is running, still not helpful..........

I did uninstall all of MS Office 2003 Plus FrontPage 2003 and Project 2003. I have a Registry cleaner which cleaned all the respective key entries for the uninstalled software.

I have successfully installed all of the Office suite but MS Project continues to fail. Although MS Project entry no longer shows in the Add/Remove Software as installed. I did a search on MS project in the registry and deleted all of the entries. I still have the same issue.

During installation startup it complains as pop-up below:

"Project Professional 2003 cannot be installed when another instance of Project Professional 2003 is already present. To install this copy of MS Project Professional 2003, first remove the previous instance of project Professional 2003 using Add/Remove programs from the Control Panel."

Please advise the resolution for this.

I must have seen this response in several usergroups and on this sit e also.

This was the original Microsoft Support recommendation as per their Tech Bulletin.

IT DOES NOT WORK.

Besides that as I mentioned in my earlier note, I do not see MS Project in the Add/remove Programs list either. I ahd Uninstalled it while I was uninstalling Offcie 2003 Professional.

My entire registry has benn scanned for Microsoft Project string and respective entries removed.

hi,

in your application error log file there will be entries for MS Project. Copy and paste those entries here so that we can review those.

Also on microsoft site you can find information about debugging and logging the setup log.

Here is the cut & paste from Application Event Log entries.

Synopsis:
I cleared all of my logs first.

Inserted thew original from Microsoft CD - Office Project 2003 Professional

As soon as after its starts autoryn it fails with a pop-up message as ahown in the log.

I have to honor you full points, despite several attempts to execute the steps which has been suggested by many in the past.

I must have tried several times and it continued to fail. I almost gave up and was ready to rebuild my system.

Luckily my final attempt was successful and have installed Project 2003 successfully. What a bummer this is.

Although, I have not Unistalled the program.
Do I need to do that and would let me re-install again?
