Exchange 2003 - User can not access mailbox --- asks for username and password

Hello,

I have a user where his account had been disabled for a couple of months.  When I enabled it, he was able to log in, but when he tries to open his email, it prompts him for a user name and password.  He tried a couple of different combinations, nothing worked.  We use roming profiles, so I deleted it out and had him log on and create a new profile.  When I set up his exchange account, everything works fine.  But when he tries to access email, it still prompts him for a user name and password.

Now, the mailbox is still in exchange.  Can I delete out the mailbox and recreate it?

Thanks for your help!!!

Bill

How long have you waited since enabling the account?
Exchange caches certain information and only flushes the cache every couple of hours. The account being disabled is probably still cached. Give it a couple of hours and I expect it will be working fine.

If you can't wait - reboot the Exchange server.

It worked!!  Thanks for you help.  I thought there would be a lot of problems if I deleted his account and recreated it.  I am glad I asked!
