I recently set up a sbs server for a client. They  are  having  problems with  printing. They  have a samsung ml1250   on a usb port and a hp 1250 on a  parralell port.
When they complain they cant print I can see thre  printer spooler service is stopped
I am getting logs
see  below

Hi cgw2006,

Sounds like you are attacking it the right way, but I would actually go a bit fuirther and fully delete most everything within the %windir%\System32\Spool\Printers directory after deleting the printers... then you can add them back cleanly with the most up-to-date drivers.  I'm not sure about the Samsung printer... never seen one.

cgw2006,

On further thought... don't just delete the stuff in the \spool directory because that would still leave the registry entries.  Use the cleanspl.exe tool which you can get by downloading the Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools:

Thanks Jeff- We took a samsung laser printer offline and this gas  helped as has changing the printer cable. The spooler service still stops but seems to restart- could this just be due to printer  jams
Thanks
