Can you tell if your MacMini is a PPC or an Intel version.  Go to the Apple on top left hand corner of the screen click on it and select "About this Mac" (tell us whether it is a PPC or Intel Mac).

The file system is pretty much the same as Unix/Linux file system.  You can go to the "Dock" at the bottom of your screen normally, click on Finder and it will show you a file manager to go around.  Or you can open up terminal (which is like a shell/console on Unix/Linux).

For OpenOffice, Mac has a NeoOffice (looks nicer on the Mac).  You can download it from http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/download.php (choose either Intel or PPC depending on the first thing you do.  a .dmg file will be downloaded and after that you will see the dmg "mounted" on your desktop which looks like another harddrive.  Double click on that and inside there, you should be able to find the NeoOffice installer (normally just double click on that).

For Adobe Acrobat, the same thing applied.

I strongly believe it is the PPC because the Intel version was first introduced by Apple in 2006 at least in my country anyway.

MiniMac
PPC 1.25 GHz
512 MB RAM
40G Hdd
Mac Tiger 10.4
