workstations running outlook 2003.

server running exchange 2003 but not with currentservice pack.

On the outllook workstations there are two accounts ... one for the exchange mailbox and one for a external pop3 account.

If I write an email and then specify my send to go though the specific mail.xxx.com pop3 account would exchange interfere with that send?

emails sent through the pop3 provider don't make it to the outside.  They will make it to the pop3 providers office but nothing outside of there... any thoughts?

Thanks

If the email message has mixed internal and external recipients, then Outlook will send via Exchange.
Other than not recommending this type of setup, if I have no choice, then I recommend that all email is sent through Exchange. It deals with an issues and allows Outlook to operate correctly.

If the message is getting to the POP3 provider's server, but no further, then you have to ask them why they are stopping there, as it is their server.

Or better still - drop POP3 and use Exchange how it was designed.

Yes I agree with using Exchange as designed ... kind of in transition here.  People like their web mail as provided by the ISP.  If I set Exchange up to retrieve the pop3 mail then the mail is lost to people out of the office via the ISP webmail.  And yes I know I can provide webmail through exchange ... I'm just not there yet.  Plus it has to be working 100% in the flip of a light switch to keep admin off my back  :)
