I would like to know the difference between: Itemtemplate and alternatingitemtemplate.

in some examples they are used both.

They are used for rows where each row alternates.

For example, if you had a list and you wanted to show the first item with a blue blackground and the next with yellow, then blue, then yellow, etc, then you would define an ItemTemplate with a blue background and an AlternatingItemTemplate with a yellow background.
