Enumeration/ private/public/protected /friends

I would like to know the usage of some words in VB.net.
example:

Public shared function
Private shared function

Public protected function
Private protected function

I have seen the usage of  Friends somewhere
I also have seen enumeration.

can someone explain to me how they use them?
