hi ,

why sometimes a floppy used to record data in one pc gives messages "the disk is not formatted" when tried to access  in another pc.how can be this corrected.
is the optical drive in the win98 machine a cd-rw capable drive?  (in other words, you have replaced the factory cd drive with some new drive that supports cd-rw?)
if the drive is not cd-rw itself, it will not recognize a cd-rw disc.
"the disk is not formatted" suggests that the format of the floppy is not recognized by the computer.
for example, if you format a floppy on a Mac and then try to access the floppy on a PC, the PC will not recognize it and ask to format it.
what is the OS on the two computers that you are using?
but the cd-rw works with normal cd drive in winxp and win 2000,but the problem comes only with win98

here the two pc are running win xp.
