cd-rw not readable in win98

hi,

The data recorded in a rewriteable cd using win xp or win 2000 with nero or other burning software ,does'nt open in win98.it gi ves message "insert a disk into drive g:" even when the disk is present in cd drive.

is there any settings that is to be followed when burning cd in winxp or win 2000 so that the cd-rw works with win98.

cd-rw :  the optical drive must support cd-rw.  a factory drive on a win98 computer most likely does not support cd-rw.  to get around this, you would need to replace the cd drive with a newer one that does support cd-rw.

is the optical drive in the win98 machine a cd-rw capable drive?  (in other words, you have replaced the factory cd drive with some new drive that supports cd-rw?)
if the drive is not cd-rw itself, it will not recognize a cd-rw disc.

"the disk is not formatted" suggests that the format of the floppy is not recognized by the computer.
for example, if you format a floppy on a Mac and then try to access the floppy on a PC, the PC will not recognize it and ask to format it.
what is the OS on the two computers that you are using?
