Blackberry 8700 sync/reconcile problem?

I just received a Blackberry 8700g from T-Mobile UK to replace an earlier model.  I have 2 questions:

1. I run Mac OS X.  Is there any easy way to add my contacts, calendar, etc. without running desktop software?  If not, any recommendations on which desktop software to use?

2. Unlike the other Blackberry units I've had, there seems to be no way to sync/reconcile deletions with their "instant email" server on this one.  The menu does not exist on their website or on the 8700.  T-Mobile support say it is a bug, but they don't seem to know any more about it. Anyone know a workaround?
