I have been trying unsuccessfully to configure the properties for the grid so the rows expand to accomodate the string placed in the column.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I am not clear on what you want. Do you want a cell (or cells) to resize with the contents?

If so, you would have to resize the entire column. To do that you need to handle the InitialzeRow event on the grid.

Inside that event you could add something like this:

e.Row.Band.Columns(1).Width = New System.Web.UI.WebControls.Unit(CStr(e.Row.Cells.FromKey("Column1").Value).Length)

This code sets the width of column 1 to be the same as the length of the text in Column1.

Is that what you are looking for?

No. What I need is the row height to automatically expand with the amount of text placed in a column in the row.
So if the text is
sddsadsa
the row would be one line high
if the test is
sdsadsadaaaaaaaaaaadsadsadsadasdasdsadasdasdsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadasdsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsadsad
the row would expand to a height of two or more lines
