Current setup:

Externally-
Forwarding is currently hosted through an external mail server mail.company.com as follows

sales@company.com is forwarded to ---> user1, user2, user3, user4, and user5@company.com

Internally-
Exchange 2003 with native pop3 connector setup to download mail.

Some of the mail from sales@company.com is getting stuck in the native pop3 badmail folder and some don't show the sender ID. I have no filters of any type setup so this should not be happening.

To try a different configuration I would like to setup the sales mailbox internally and forward through a distribution list to the 5 users. I do not want there to accually be an internal sales mailbox because no one will be checking it.

I just want to get the sales mail from mail.company.com and internally forward it to the 5 users without having a sales mailbox that will end up getting full and taking up resources.

How do I setup the Distrubution List to handle this?

if I read you question correctly,  you need to forward mail from an outside sender to 5 of your internal users? I don't see why you can't just create an internal distribution list and  use that address to forward mail to your 5 users, maybe I'm reading your question wrong.
