asked on

enable record from stereo mix in windows control panel

I am looking at recording sound from an application running on my computer. I am told that if you enable recording from “Stereo Mix” it will be possible using the software I have.

But "stereo mix" is not listed as recording option in Windows control panel. As I have access to a second computer I looked for this option there also, it was not either.

Is this something that is non standard? If so how do I get it?

I believe stereo mix is also called:

Wave in
Mixer
Stereo mix
Mono mix
What you hear

Very many thanks.

Hi this depends on what sound card you have,?
please what is the name of your sound card?
try checking on the vol icon on your taskbar>db click it then properties> options> recording add in the options.

Wave in << means you plug in a device to your input on the rear of the tower and record from there, but you'll need a program to do this such as Music Match or a good sound card comes with these now programs .

Here is a free recorder
Easy MP3 Sound Recorder, makes a complete recording studio of your computer. With the recorder you can record voice from microphone, internet streaming audio, or music played by Winamp, Windows Media Player, Quick Time, Real Player, Flash, games, etc. Easy MP3 Sound Recorder is able to automatically detect the recording formats your sound card supports and then set the application's parameters for the best possible performance. The recordings can be saved as .mp3, .wav and .wma files.
