I.E. 6 sp 2, AutoComplete Clear Forms button not working

I have Win XP home 5.1 Build 2600 with I.E. 6.0.29  service pack 2.  Within I.E. > Tools > Internet Options > Content > Autocomplete > Clear AutoComplete History > Clear Forms, the Clear Forms button does not work.  By clicking on this button I get the hourglass and the application stops responding.

I have disabled Spybot 1.4, My antivirus app. and my firewall app.  It still locks up.  I also followed the advice on this website and tried deleting the History folder, however I was not able to delete it.  It is a system folder and it cannot be deleted.

How can I get the Clear Forms function to work?

Greetings, Chomps !

Instead of deleting the History folder, delete the content of the History folder. Now test.

If no joy, some program or plugin is interfering with Internet Explorer.
1. Disable third party extensions. With IE open, go to Tools > Options > Advanced. Uncheck "Third party extensions". Click Ok. Reboot computer.

2. Clear your cache.  Go to Tools > Internet Optins > General tab.  Under Temporary Internet Files, click "Delete Files" button. Click OK.

3. Reset IE settings.  Go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs.  Click on "Reset Web Settings" button. Go to Advanced tab and click "Restore Defaults" button. Go to Security tab and move the bar to Medium or Default. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.

4. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus, firewall, antispyware, ad-blocker, popup blocker, and all Norton programs.

5. Repair or reinstall Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP

I tried all of your suggestions 1 -4 and none of them worked.  So I tried your last suggestion 5.  I uninstalled WinXP Service Pack2, and then re-installed WinXP Service Pack2.  Quite a lenghty process, however, Clear Forms now works!

Thanks for your help.

By the way.  I also uninstalled Spybot 1.4 and AdAware before uninstalling the WinXP Service Pack2.  I then re-installed Service Pack 2, and am in the process of re-installing Spybot and AdAware now.  I will see if Clear Forms still works after installing these programs.

War1,

Not sure what you mean.  I already listed the question at 250 points.  Is there something else I should do?
