Uninstalling Antigen or should I?

I installed antigen 9 trial looking for spam control. I then found that it is a seperate module which downloads with the smtp version which wont run if you installed the trial i already did install. Antigen seems a bit overwhelming for me so I am trying to untinstall and it tells me to stop all exchange services. I DID search here and found cmd line info and tried it but I still cant get this stuff off my server.

Can anyone help me see why?

Also, if I am looking for budget spam control on exchange for our ministry, what is the best solution? I cant afford a barracuda or watchguard at present.
Many thanks
Robert

Are you looking for software to run on your server?  Offsite services like Katharion and Postini serve as pretty good alternatives - my clients use Katharion and really have had good success with it.

Server solutions should include software like GFI Essentials.  If you have server 2003 you can also try downloading SP2 and using the newer Intelligent Message Filtering.

As for the antigen - stop all Exchange services by going to Start/Run/services.msc and stopping anything that says Microsoft Exchange, as well as any AV you might be running.  If it still fails to uninstall, try reinstalling it and then uninstalling again.
