I want to be able to print it by date for a particular date only. I have tried scripts and a few more things but no luck. I'm stuck...

you need to find records with the required date, then print.
the simplest thing if to:
find mode
set field date = get(date of the day)
execute find

tell if you need an example or post yr file for me to modify them

By the way, I want to be able to print a report for a day I specify or for a range of date using the First name, Last name and Date fields.

see the make_report script.
many other ways to do this, remove the dialog and have the date range fields in the layout, etc...
