Chaging the Templates Folder Location
Hi Folks
I inherited an webSite where the Templates Folder location is sitting one Level Deep than what Dreamweaver looks for.
How do I tell Dreamweaver to look for Templates 1 level down and not at the root level of the DW site.
Thanks
RG

If i move the Templates folder and then save the file in the folder i want to save, the path becomes incorrect. Dreamweaver automatically changes the path when I save the file, which is what I dont want
I'm confused, then. Could you describe what it is you are trying to do and where the files and folders are relative to the site root.

/courseware/course/templat es (correct location) but does not show up in the Template when I say File > New Template
/courseware/templates (Templates show up) but the path inside the site changes like ../../core/general.css instead of ../core/general.css

Which version of DW is this?

Okay.
The short answer is: they shouldn't have put the Templates there. DW always looks for templates one folder down from the folder defined as the site root. This behavior is hard-coded and I cannot find a way to change it.
You can either move the templates back up a level and then edit each one to get the paths correct or start over.

Ya I know, that is how I am doing it. I was trying to find a solution where I would not have to do that, like modifying/configuring an XML document or something like that
Thanks

hi mrichmon,
Unfortunately, an answer in the negative is sometimes the correct answer. Because the previous site owners moved the templates around, rgarimella is out of luck vis-a-vis trying to make Templates work outside of one level down from the root.

Even if the folder is in the "wrong" place, doesn't DW still have the paths in the files that are based on those templates correct?
In other words, why do you want to change this? What is the problem you are experiencing. If DW isn't updating the templates properly, you could always move the folder up a level (or do Save As a bunch) from within DW and that should trigger the site cache to update things.
