Not really a Java question, but this seems to be the best place for it at ExEx

I am reading the Eclipse RCP book and following along with the Hyperbola example.  Somehow the Hyperbola perspective is corrupted (null expection when try to bring it up) so I want to delete it.  Yet, when I go to General -> Perspectives -> Hyperbola Perspective, I am unable to delete because then Delete button is greyed out.

So then I tried removing the files:

[org.eclipsercp.book.samples_1.0.1]
org.eclipsercp.hyperbola_1.0.1.jar
org.eclipsercp.hyperbola.ui_1.0.0.jar
org.eclipsercp.book.tools_1.0.1.jar
org.eclipsercp.hyperbola.muc_1.0.0.jar
org.eclipsercp.hyperbola.ui.workbench_1.0.0.jar
org.eclipsercp.hyperbola_1.0.0.chapter23.jar
org.eclipsercp.hyperbola.product.ide_1.0.0.jar

from the plugin directory and started eclipse with -clean.
Still, the hyperbola plugin appears in the plugin perspective.

How do i delete the perspective?

Do you want to remove it from current view? If yes - then right click on the top right on the prespective (where it shows all the prespectives) and click on "Close"

But if you want to remove it from eclipse installation so that i doesn't get loaded, you can try deleting the references from
[Workspace Location]/.metadata/.plugins (like you did in the plugin folder)

and then start the eclipse with -clean.

Getting closer, but not there yet. I've removed:
[Workspace Location]/org.eclipse.hyperbola/*
[Workspace Location]/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects/org.eclipsercp.hyperbola/*
so the perspective is gone.

The hyperbola program was installed by Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install...Search for new features to install and then navigate to the CD.  If i now go to Help -> Software Updates -> Manage Configuation, a page appears entitled "Product Configuration" and hyperbola is still listed.  I can disaable it, but not delete.  How can it be deleted?

I have reinstalled eclipse.  It seems to be the best way to eliminate it completely.
