Recover from scrach all user profils

Hi Experts :

I have to restore all users profils from scrach . What can i do ? I have all users profils Folders , ( Documents and Settings folders  ) but now im in a new server and i have manual backup of all users profils from the old server , the old server died .

Please help

This might be tough.  Probably the quickest way would be to...

Let the user logon to the new server so it creates the profile
Have the user logoff
Then replace the users profile in c:\documents and settings with the one you had backed up for that person.
You'll have to do this with each user.

If you had the profilelist backed up from the registry as well, it would be a little easier.

Anyhow, give that a shot.

Hi Pber

that can be good , but i cant access as Administrator to the user folder , how i can solvde this , i get :


You dont have permission to view or edit the current settings for (folder name) , bur you can take ownership or change auditing setting .

and i need to solve this to be abalible to get in side of users profils .

By default Administrators should have full control of the users folder, but here we go.

Take ownership as you mentioned.  ensure you select the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".
Once that is complete grant the following permission at the users folder:
Administrators: Full control
System: Full Control
The user: Full Control

this should get you in.

Thanks , thats works , but now i have this messege in the client side when i log the user :

Your roaming profile is not available. You are logged on with the locally stored profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.


DETAIL - Access is denied.
