Hi Experts,

i have installed Virtual PC 2004 on my XP professional computer.
I am also running XP pro with the virtual PC.
I am trying to accomplish this

Network adapter on the physical computer: When this option is selected, the virtual machine is connected directly to the currently selected network connection of the host operating system. The virtual machine will appear and behave like a separate physical computer on the same network. The networking configuration of the virtual machine is determined by the configuration of the network. For example, the configuration of the network will determine how an IP address is assigned to the virtual machine. If the network uses a DHCP server, an IP address is assigned dynamically to the virtual machine. Similarly, if the network uses static IP addresses, you must manually configure the virtual machine to use a static IP address, following the procedure specified in the documentation for the virtual machine operating system.

------------------------

My host computer is assigned IP and other adresses manually. I did the same on my virtual pc, but i can only ping my host computer. I cannot acess internet or other computers in my network.

Do I need to setup the host PC IP address as the virtual PC gateway adress?
I would appreciate any help on this issue,

thanks

No, you should use the same Gateway and DNS settings as your "host" PC.

If you have manually setup all of the TCP/IP configuration on the "host" PC, then that means you'll have to do the same for the virtual PC.

You'll need to setup the IP address, Subnet, default Gateway, DNS servers, etc.
