Moving and upgrading to new exchange server

I just purchased a new exchange server.  The old exchange server is on 2000 server running 2000 exchange.  The new server has server 2003 and I would like to put exchange 2003.

The old exchange server is in live environment that must stay up with minimal downtimen (in other words, three minutes would be ok to do the switch over).

Suggestions on best practices please. I am doing this right now.

Swing it.

Will take a little while to complete, but can be done with zero downtime.

Ok, good article BUT (and there is always one).  I have two servers Server 1 and Server 2.  Server one has Server 2000/Exchange 2000.  Server 2 has Server 2003/ and is going to have exchange 2003.  I think I am naming server 2 something other than what I have server 1 named, and do I have to put a static ip on Server 2.

In other words do I give the new server a different name and ip from server 1. I think the answer is yes.  And should I give Server 2 a static IP?

The new server has to have a new name and a new IP address.
If you want to retain the same name and IP address, then you would either need to allow for significant downtime (around 8 to 10 hours, maybe more) or use a third box to do a full swing (swing to temp box, remove original, swing back to new box).
