ASP Code Beautifier tools with Batch Mode

Hi,

Are there any free ASP Code beautifiers? If not, what are the good paid ones? I know Polystyle and SourceFormatX, but do not know if they are good.

Another feature that is an absolute must is batch mode - The tool must be able to prettify multiple source files at once.

Visual Web Developer Express has the Format Document option, but I don't see how I can use it in the batch mode.

Hi sridharj_ap,

When you say 'beautifiers' do you mean it just makes the code look nice, if so then dreamweaver colour codes things nicely - i used to use it for code - just dont use any of the front end of wizard options.

Also notepad++ from sourceforge is free and its pretty cool , allows multiple code pages open at once witht he use of tabs

You could also check the free editor PSPad at http://www.pspad.com/

It supports "many file types and languages, with syntax highlighting. There are macros, clip files and templates to automate repetitive activities. An integrated HEX Editor, Project support, FTP Client, Macro Recorder, File Search/Replace, Code Explorer and code page conversion."

I use it myself for PHP and JavaScript. The middle mouse button shows some of the functions for the current language type.

Hi,

apresto: If we develop applications with Dreamweaver, the code gets formatted nicely. But if I load existing files, does Dreamweaver beautify the code? To define a code beautifier, it is a tool (or a feature in a tool) that indents source code properly, aligns lines, consistently enforces tabs and spaces etc. Therefore it helps in easy readability and thus maintainability of code.

davbouchard: My problem is not about formatting individual files as i work. I need a feature by which I can run all files in a project folder through the beautifier. I am sure this could be done using the Scripting language/macros of various text editors. I just don't know how and I don't have the time required to learn it.

Hi,

The source code indentor tool is shareware which is not to be used as per our company policy. We finally used Visual Web Developer Express for a quick formatting and cleanup, although it doesn't have a batch mode.

I am intending to get this thread closed. Please let me know if any of you feel otherwise.
