Hi,

I need to write an application which will scan for files of specific types.  The application must run in the back, and no form is used.

Is there a class that I can use to do this?

Hi nickmarshall,

You can use the Directory / DirectoryInfo objects.  You can use the Process object of the system.diagnostics namespace to start the process and you can tell it not to show a window with the ProcessStartInfo object
