DreamWeaver v8 - How can I do Right to Left languages also in Designer mode?

Hi all,

I am trying out the DW v8 Evaluation edition. When I type in an RTL language, things are ok as long as I am in the same word, but as soon as I type a blank and then start a new word, I see that the new word starts to comes out to the *right* of the first word. Of course, it is supposed to come out on the left. Is there any solution to this?

Maybe I should ask the question in a different way: which DW version so far gives the best RTL support?

tia,

Avi

Hi progtw,

The answer appears to be "none of them"

As far as I can tell, the RTL typing issue is still a "to-do" in the Dreamweaver devnets.  Oddly enough, Freehand can do it.

Most people appear to use a RTL editor to compose the text and paste it back into DW.

Yes, it starting to seem more and more like that. Thnx.

Btw, from my own experience, the only version(s) of Freehand that can do RTL are locally adapted versions (under license from and with the help of Macromedia/Adobe, I assume), e.g., the version from QuickSoft, Israel.

Good to know.  Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

Well - getting a straight and strong  "none of them" answer is also a good answer, even though it's not the answer I wanted to hear. You get the points.

re - Freehand RTL
And if the version is not adapted for RTL, then not only does it not do RTL, often it can't even access the foreign language fonts, and even if it can there are spacing (kerning?) problems with the characters.

This thread is starting to make me glad I don't have to deal with RTL IRL because it sounds like YMMV.

Sorry.  Couldn't resist.

what is IRL
what is YMMV - You Make Me Vomit?(!)

Anyway, when you deal with the RTL issue, eitehr you have to take the approach that you forfeit on WSYWYG, or you decide that that is going to be the Number One consideration in choosing a development environment, and so you use 2nd rate app just because it gives you RTL WSYWYG - but everything else about it is less good.
