Active directory uses a particular "type of query" as does SMS and other tools.  Can someone list these?

Normally an LDAP query is performed when you are trying to get information from active directory about any AD objects.

I know you can use VBScript and other programming languages to query AD via LDAP.  You can also use this free Microsoft Tool, called LDP.EXE.
