unable to create Exchange user mailbox in Exchange 2003

I seem to have a big problem in that I can't create a user in Exchange 2003.

I create the user in AD then the Exchange dialog box comes up to create the Exchange user account, but then it just hangs at 60%.

This server is running Windows 2003 with the latest fixes and service packs along with Exchange 2003 SP2

There are no error messages in the event log or on the screen when the Exchange user account hangs.

Any idea's?

Try installing the Exchange System Management Tools using the Exchange Installation disk on any of the domain controllers in the local site
Are you trying to create the user on an Exchange Server or are you trying it from a domain controller
If you are trying to do it via a dc try putting the fqdn and the netbios name of the exchange server along with it's ip address in the hosts file
The hosts file is located in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

ASKER

I rebooted the domain controller and I can create the user now. (i.e. rebooted the non exchange server)

Any idea what caused this problem?
