Exchange 2003 Reinstall

Hi,

I had exchange2003 installed on a windows sbs 2003 server and was working fine but then needed to uninstall IIS and reinstall it. Since then i can't get the following services to start:-

Microsoft Exchange IMAP4
Microsoft Exchange POP3
Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine

I have tried to reinstall exchange but show up with a cross next to the messaging and collaboration install. It then goes on to complete the installation and get the following error message.

0xc007041d - The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. (EXIFS)

Not sure if this is related to the exchange problem but

I also cannot start the SNMP service " Snmp.exe - application error"
                                                    "The exception unknown software exception (0xc06d007e) occured in the application at location
                                                      0x77e55dea"

i have tried to search for this error but can't find anything of any help. Can anyone help me with this?

SNMP is not related... that i can tell you...

Do the steps below and let me know what comes out..

1. Disable all AV / Antispam / Backup / Network monitor services.
2. Rebbot the server.
3. Set all exchange services to Manual.
4. Install Windows service pack.
5. Install Exchange (reinstall)
6. Install Exchange service pack.

I have tried the steps and seem to have worked.

But i have been trying to test it but e-mails are not being routed to the mailbox. We use pop mail at the moment and the messages do get downloaded by the exchange server as they dispear from the online web interface but they don't appear in the user's mailbox. Does this mean that the reinstall didn't work?

I can start all the exchange service whereas before i couldn't.

If the pop connector is downloading emails it should get to your inbox.....

do we get any events if we increase logging on pop connector?

I can see the pop3 emails being downloaded but now i get delivery failure message saying

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:      test 1:35
      Sent:      8/8/2006 13:46

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

      mspop3connector.username@domain.com on 8/8/2006 13:46
            The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
            <Servername.Domain.local #5.1.1>

I have verified that the email adress exists and all the services are running and so is the pop connectors.

Any Ideas?

Got it sorted. Something i found while searching on the web.

1. When the pop3 connector downloads email it appends
mspop3connector to the email address of the destination
mailbox and adds this new address as
an envelope recipient. This mail is submitted to SMTP via
CDO.

2. The Pop3 Connector adds an Event Sink to the IIS
metabase that checks all messages on submission for
addresses that start with mspop3connector.

3. Any messages that meet this criteria have the
mspop3connector portion of the address removed and the
message is delivered to the mailbox specified
in the pop3 connector configuration.

Now it seems that the problem is occurs at step 2 that
the POP3 Event Sink has become corrupt which prevented it
from removing the mspop3connector
text from addresses containing it and processing the
message(s). To resolve the issue, we need to re-register
the POP3 Event Sink. To do so, open
Windows Explorer, go to the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Windows Small Business Server\Networking\POP3" folder and
double click to run IMBReg.exe.
