Sending' reported error (0x800CCC60) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error.
We have one user out of a couple hundred whose Outlook keeps returning the following error:
"Sending' reported error (0x800CCC60) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ***********220 ************************** ********** ********** ********** ********** ***"
He still able to send and recieve.

Thank you for the input. We were only able to stop the message from re-occuring after pulling up the e-mail in the Outbox and adding a single space in a random spot and then resending. Unfortunately, this does not answer why it is happening. Any input?
Thank you!
Thank you!
blackdobie2,
Where did you add the space? In the To field? Body of message?
If the problem is with only one user, the user profile is corrupt. Create a new Outlook profile.

The space was added to the body of the message. This error message with this corresponding solution is unique to one user, however having emails stuck in the outbox and adding a space to the body to get them to send is sporatic among several users. The user that had the original problem has not had any more issues to date. Would this still suggest a corrupt profile?
Thanks
Thanks
If the problem is sporadic and happens to several users, the problem points to an addin or external program interfering with Outlook. No, it is not likely a profile problem.

We have been able to stop the error code from appearing on outgoing mail by switching the user's authentication mode to login to the POP3 server before attempting to send to the SMTP server.
Thank you for everyone's input.

We had not changed authentication modes on our mail server and in fact almost all of our users still just use the SMTP authentication. This particular machine, for whatever reason, did not stop having issues until we added the step of logging into the incoming mail server before sending mail. The only thing that appears to be unique to this machine/user to everyone else is that this user is on a new HP instead of the Dell machines that everyone else is on. Authentication was not an oversight, we just assumed that the settings that worked for everyone else would work for this user. Any thoughts on why one machine would be different?
With that said, your input was appreciated and definitely helped us get to the solution.

Delete the email account and create a new one in Outlook email settings.
1. If no joy, register an important send/receive library file. Go to Start > Run and type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll
2. Check if antivirus email check is slowing sending and receiving. Disable it.
3. In the account settings, Advanced settings, change the server timeout time from 1 min to 5 min
4. Check if outgoing mail server authentication is required. Select that option in account settings and use same settings as incoming server
5. Your ISP may be blocking port 25. Try using alternate port 587.
6. Check with email provider Tech Support to determine if server is having trouble.
7. See this troubleshooter for not sending
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/nosend.htm
8. If no joy, create a new Outlook profile, since only one out of 200 users is having trouble.
