Well, it was a long drawn out night but your tip led me in the right direction. &nbsp;Suse 10.1 has some weird bugs if you upgrade from 10.0 - I finally got all the patches installed so you can use the new install tool for MySQL (YaST doesn't seem to work at all).<br />

Long story short, I got the newest version and the backups work great. &nbsp;I cannot argue!<br />
