Windows 2000 Server - Increasing HDD space

Hi,

Just looking for some help - getting confused with all the info out there:

I currently have a Windows 2000 Server with the following configured:

- 2 Arrays - A and B
Array A - 2 physical 36.4GB HD - Raid 1 - 2 Logical Drives - C: - OS - 19.53GB and E: Logs, etc - 14.37GB
Array B - 3 physical 36.4GB HD - Raid 5 - 1 Logical Drive - F: SQL data,etc 67.80GB

All basic disks on IBM Serveraid 5i controller

I have 1 free HD slot available and would like to achieve the following if possible:

Increase the free disk space on Array B as much as possible.

I was thinking about doing the following:
Ghosting and backing up the current setup in case of problems,
Converting the disks from basic to dynamic
Deleting E:
Adding an extra 36.4GB HD (Could I add a bigger one? or does it need to be consistant?)
Expanding the volume of F: (Not sure if this would still be fault tolerant though?)

Suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks

From the Present point of view, you should only place a 36 Gb disk in conjunction with the present Array B.

In the future point of view, Rindi said it all.

Best Regards !

ASKER

I was waiting for a better answer but I have split points between the first two comments.

Thanks
Thank you, for closing the Question ;)

Best Regards !
To be totally honest with you I dont have time to read the guidelines. I gave a C because I didnt think the question was answered well enough. Anyway I will change the grade as you wish - how do you do this?

For example the first comment suggested further research - I use this forum to get answers not to do further research. Your comment was pretty good however you also didnt know if the controller supported this.

So in the end I did my own research - not really what I wanted....

Thanks,
The whole point is to get feedback from you. How on earth are the experts supposed to know if the answer was OK or not without feedback from the asker? As I have reopened the Q you can do with it whatever you like...
