Multiple Displays on Dell Optiplex

Client has just purchased a number of Dell Optiplex 210L computers and wishes to configure several of them for multiple displays. This is *not* a gaming setup, they just want to have spreadsheets one one display, email on another and possibly a live stock feed on a 3rd display. I have asked Dell for an official solution but they do not offer one and simply gave me a link to the nVidia website instead. Looking at the link however the cards are all PCIe-16x cards and my understanding is that the PC has only a PCIe-1x slot. Unfortunately Dell are not quick at answering technical enquiries and I fail to see why I should pay them (I'm in the UK and we have to call an 0870 number that they get revenue from)

Assuming that it is a PCIe-1x slot, can anybody suggest a suitable card that will work in this machine, if not are there any other alternatives? Matrox do a USB adaptor but that is a little pricy as it is aimed at a different market so not really a suitable alternative for them unless it's the only alternative!

Both the desktop (slimline) and the tower versions of the 210L have 2 pci slots and 1 1x pci-E slot. You could try something like this from matrox http://www.matrox.com/mga/offhome/dh2go/home.cfm, or if both the pci slots are availble add 2 cheap dual monitor pci video cards (wont be able to use integrated video with a pci card so 2 cards will be needed for 3 monitors but will support upto 4) or you an get a Matrox QID card http://www.matrox.com/mga/corp/financial/products/qidlp.cfm. Also if you have the desktop chassis they will need to be low profile pci cards (half height), the tower chassis will accept standard height and length pci cards

Gary - Perfect! I have just ordered one from Misco who do actually supply the PCI-e version of the card. I had tried my usual suppliers with no luck so it's nice to know there is an alternative!
