AOL is taking over sending email from Internet Explorer even though Outlook is the selected default email service

Even though I have Outlook as the default email service in the Control Panel and in Internet Explorer (under Internet Options), when I try to send a web page or web link by email, it automatically opens a message in AOL.  We use AOL too, but I don't want it opening when I don't want it to, and I don't want to send web pages and links via AOL, only Outlook.  Everything else works fine -- meaning that when sending email from other programs they go properly via Outlook, such as Word, Excel, Adobe Reader (PDF files).  Anyone got a clue how to stop this from happening?
