Record Count in Crystal Reports

I am using VS2003 and have a crystal report I need to get the count of the Dataset I have tied to the report so I can loop through and test.  How can I get a count in Crystal, I know I use a formual field but I'm not sure of the command.

Thank you

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

add a new formula field, name it "Count1" and save the following in there

//@Count1
val({Your report fieldname here})

also you can just open your report in a design view, right-click, select Insert and then "Summary" or "Total"

Val doesn't give me the count if displays 0.00.  I know I have two records in my dataset.  I just don't know how to get it to display 2.

thanks

try:
//@Count1
count({Your report fieldname here})

The following examples are applicable to Crystal syntax:

If Count({orders.ORDER ID}) >= 100 Then

     "Congratulations on meeting your quota!"

Else

     ""

Prints the congratulatory message if the number of orders is 100 or more, and prints nothing if the number of orders is less than 100.

Count([1,2,3,4,5])

Returns 5. Counts the total number of values in the array.
