change hoverstyle of .NET 2.0 TreeView- "Window.Status='';return true"

I have am programmatically adding treeviews to a content place holder in ASP.NET 2.0 using VB language.
I want to add change what is displayed in the window status bar.
On link buttons, you can do 'Attribute.Add("OnMouseOver", "Window.Status='';return true").
This is not true for the treeView.
I have done a lot of research on the topic and have tried different things.
I have not been able to find a solid answer for this specific situation.
Any help is appreciated.  Time is crutial.

Thanks,
