I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. the password method should work, according to this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060830/ap_on_hi_te/betrayed_by_a_cell_phone

but it states 11 times.

Found this on a forum:
To wipe a BlackBerry with handheld software 4.0 go to Security menu (Under Options) click the trackwheel and select security wipe. Type BlackBerry and all information stored on the BlackBerry will be wiped.

The password method will work only for pre 7100 models.

Also look at this, it seems you can use javaloader to do your job.

The answer given by Bk_Jrenstein is correct.. that is what one has to do.. but bare in mind if the device came from an Enterprise and was running BES rather than BIS this will not remove the IT Policy.

to get a clean blackberry you have to carry out the following...
1) Download the firmware from the blackberry/service provider site
2) wipe the handheld - whilst it is rebooting.. pull out the battery and reinsert it.. this will kill the device completlely with a 507 service error
3) install the firmware on your PC/Laptop
4) fire up desktop manager (install it if not already)
5) connect blackberry - if Auto detection does not fireup the application loader then
6) Run Application Loader and follow the wizard..

The process can take close to an hour on some instances so dont be alarmed.
