Where's my hard drive?

I just unpacked an ATA IDE and dropped it in my external case, plugged it in the USB 2, XP recognizes and installs it successfully...but now where is it?  Device manager says its working properly and I can see it in my BIOS, but I can't find it anywhere in My Computer and it doesn't autorun.  How do I find it?  I put the drive on slave.  I don't know what else to do!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I tried connecting it to my laptop, same thing.

I do not have virtual drivers enabled right now either, I turned Daemon Tools off.

start -> run -> diskmgmt.msc

Right click on the new disk, initialize it, then format it and assign it a drive letter.

hopefully you'll be able to see it in my computer now.

Wow jdusinb!
I tried that command after hooking up an old 80gig maxtor I had laying around for a year thinking it wasn't working and it just formatted and appears to be healthy and running!  I won't rely on it too much though, but it was awesome to see that I revived that sucker!
