Looking for wireless bridging options

I have a retail customer that has built a new warehouse 200 yards behind their current store.  There is concrete between the buildings, so its not possible to trench in CAT5.  I'm left with looking at a wireless bridge option.  

My thought is to put directional antennas on the roofs of both buildings and then use either Linksys gear or Sonicwall to create the bridge.  I'd be interested to hear what others have done.

Well, you would not want to 'trench in' copper cable anyway, as the potential electrical difference between the 2 buildings provides a dangerous path for current that could VERY likely fry all electronics in that path...  routers, switches, PCs.. all would be toast in this situation..  Only 3 ways to connect buildings:  Fiber, WiFi and P2P through Telco (or other providers)...

In your case, P2P directional antennaes are the way to go...  We used a Cisco solution in one case, to connect buildings approx. 1000 feet apart, and it worked..

I'm leaning towards P2P directional antennaes, just trying to figure out what hardware to use.  I'm familar with both Sonicwall and Linksys products, so want to stick with them.

Well, then the WET54GS5 Linksys may be right up your alley...  appears to support VPNs and VLANs..  Now, that does not mean that it would be a total end to end solution, as you may want a hardware to hardware VPN solution..

That's an option.  My concern would be in the radio has enough power to drive the signal through the roof mounted antennas.  

One idea would be to use a Sonicwall TZ170 Wireless upfront.  I would then connect the store antenna to one of the TZ170 antenna ports and then in the warehouse have the antenna connect to thw WET54G bridge.  There is only one PC in the warehouse, so the single LAN port would be fine for now.  I could always put in a small switch if more workstations are needed.  There is the possability that a Symbol PDA scanner will be used in the warehouse to track book inventory.  

I'd be interested in your thoughts on how this approach would play out.

Yea, my only concern is the distance also..  600 feet is a long way away, and I am not quite sure that these products will offer the right fix for you..  perhaps if you could amplify the signal, either through firmware (iffy) or hardware..  I have never use Sonicwall products, so I can't help you there, and I know that Linksys has some range issues..  (there are firmware upgrades to certain Linksys' that enhances the range..)

But, it sounds to me like you have really thought this out.  The only thing you need to make sure of is compatibility and power...  but I see no flaw in the plan..  

BTW:  If you can, I would suggest you use the PDA Symbol Scanner locally.

Thanks for the input.   What do you mean by using the Symbol Scanner locally.  The idea would be to have the scanner in the same building as the wireless hub.
