Try to boot from the XP Installation CD, and start regular installation process up to the point when it searches for your current XP Installation.
If it recognizes your current installation, just preform a reovery installation as described at the following link:

if your current installation is not recognized, you can try to perform a clean instllation (but better try to backup your data before).

In case of problems regrad reading/writing to the Hard Drive during installation, you hard drive is probably defective, and you will have to replace it.

Hope that helps,
Are you using a raid configuration or is the os on a single hdd? have you tryed running diagnostics on the hdd(s) to check for failures?
Possible hard drive failure.

I am using raid configuration.  I did use clean configuration on all the four hard drives and initialized ok.  I booted from W2K cd.  It did reformat all the drives and rebooted.
After this has to boot from hard drive, but I got drive error.
Boot into the raid controllers bios and run a verify on the drive (has to be done 1 at a time) If you have to remap alot of bad sectors on a drive its probably bad. If they all pass, then try deleting the container, reitializing the drives, format the drives individually from the controller (low level format), recreate the container and retry the install.

I did do low level format and reconfigured and reinitialized all the drives.  But I got the same message as " A disk error press Ctrl Alt Del to reboot".  It should able to boot from Raid system, but it failed.  Any idea.

If all the hdds passed a verify test, you may be looking at a bad raid controller.
